Kelly is a born and raised Calgarian, mostly. At the age of three his family emigrated from Calgary to Pittsburgh in the United States. When he moved back in 1988 the city had grown considerably and continues to expand to this day. After finishing high school and  university his first business was started. Although successful in his landscaping business and subsequent construction  company the decision was made in 2001 to shift into real estate and forge a new career. The experience he gained in the residential construction industry has been a tremendous asset to his clients. Although no longer in the construction industry some of the former emphasis carries on in the company name, Kernick Homes, a real estate business with a background in the trades that build Calgary's homes.
